You don’t need to know all your details immediately.

What’s your budget? Who is standing in your wedding? Where is it? All of these things are difficult to know right off the bat. I plan on blogging about the wedding process more because I get clients who’re all over the map in their planning process and they’re often nervous about it, or feel like they’re on top of things when there’s still many unanswered questions or details not considered. It’s perfectly fine to not have all the answers, there are so many resources and professionals to help you out along the way.

You’ll pick things up and learn from the professionals as you go.

When clients hire me they’re also hiring a consultant. I’m an email or phone call away to help you answer questions like “When should we do family photos?” “How long does it take to do bridal party photos?” “Do we have to cut the cake before the first dance?”

Follow your heart

Logistically I can offer your guidance and give you tried and true advice, examples of  wedding schedules that keep the day on the rails and schedules that felt as in control as a feather in the wind. Regardless of the advice I offer, what your family expects or suggests, ultimately, when all is said and done, you need to do what is right for you as a couple. What traditions speak to you, which  ones represent your values, which ones feel silly or uncomfortable? Ask these questions and you’ll have your answers.

No right or wrong way to get married.

I’ve seen them all, a denim and plaid signature at the courthouse to a horse and carriage ballroom soiree. I can honestly, from the deepest part of my heart, tell you there is no right or wrong way to get married - IF - if you do what feels true and authentic to you as a couple. Ask yourselves what’s important to you, what do you want to remember, and who do you want to share it with.

Don’t be intimidated. It can - and will - feel overwhelming at times.

Plain and simple. Even the chillest of weddings can have moments that feel daunting or like work. Contracts, planning, design, retainers, deposits, tastings, sizings, juggling family, friends and pets …. There’s a lot to consider. Take your time, start early, share responsibilities, delegate and celebrate.
